MQM Founder & Leader Mr Altaf Hussain has welcomed the positive announcement made by President General Pervez Musharraf during the meeting of National Security Council today including the holding of general elections on schedule, assurances of removing his uniform as announced, lifting of emergency as soon as the situation improves and the restoration of the Constitution as reassuring decision. In his statement Mr Hussain said that as a result of these positive announcements, all those whose minds were confused and those who were relating the present circumstances to extreme uncertainty; their reservations and fears should now be removed. Mr Hussain further appealed to all the political and religious parties that for the sake of holding the peaceful general elections, respect each other, do away with confrontational politics and support the present government and President General Pervez Musharraf so that emergency can be lifted, constitution restored and elections are held on schedule. Mr Hussain personally paid tributes to President General Pervez Musharraf on making courageous and positive announcements.

Altaf Hussain Felicitates Hindu Community on Diwali: Mr Altaf Hussain, Founder and Leader of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) extended his felicitation to the Hindu community living throughout the world including Pakistan on their religious festival of Diwali. In his statement issued from London, he said that importance is given to the religious festivals in all religions of the world and therefore, the followers of rejoice their festivals in accordance with the beliefs. He said that MQM believes in religious harmony, it not only considers religious minorities of Pakistan as an equal Pakistani but also respects their due rights.Mr. Altaf Hussain appealed to the Hindu community to pray for the prosperity and advancement of Pakistan during their prayers and to redeem the country from challenges confronted by it.

The MQM Founder & Leader Mr Altaf Hussain has held detailed talks with Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, President of PML(Q), the largest political party in the coalition government, and the Chief Minister of Punjab Parvez Elahi over the phone from London. Mr Hussain said that under the present crises situation faced by the country, all the coalition partners in the Government should with all sincerity struggle together to bring the country out of crises and to adopt a unanimously agreed line of action. He also stressed upon the urgent need for the formation of joint consultation committees with reference to the forthcoming general elections. Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain commended the views expressed by Mr Hussain and said that we have worked together in the past, at present and God willing will continue to work together in the future as well.

Karachi, 02 September 2007: Mohtarma Mafia Khatoon, mother of Senior Member of MQM Co-ordination Committee, Saleem Shahzad passed away in Karachi on Saturday night, the 2nd. September 2007. She was 92 years old and suffering from heart disease since long. She was living in Gulistan-e-Johar with her elder son. She left behind three sons and a daughter. Having received the information of her death, Members of the MQM Co-ordination Committee, Wasay Jalil, Town Nazim Gulshan-e-Iqbal Town, Elected representatives of the MQM and other Office bearers congregated at her residence to condole the bereaved family members and recite the Holy Quran for her salvation. Karachi - 28th July 2007: Senior MQM leader, former Member of National Assembly and Member of MQM Coordination Committee Hassan Musanna Alvi passed away in a local hospital in Karachi today after being seriously ill for some time. Mr Altaf Hussain, MQM Founder & Leader, has expressed his shock and heartfelt condolences to the family members. He said that the services, dedication and commitment to the cause and sacrifices of Mr Alvi for the MQM, particularly during the testing times  will always be remembered.
His funeral prayers will be offered at the Jinnah Ground in Azizabad, Karachi tomorrow, i.e. 29th July 2007, after Asar Prayers and the burial will take place at the Shuhuda Graveyard in Federal B Area, Azizabad, Karachi.

London. 21 May 2007---The MQM Co-ordination Committee, with the Convenor Dr. Imran Farooq in chair,
held marathon meetings at International secretariat London, to reviews its position since
joining the government in 2002. Along with terrorist attacks on MQM rallies on 12 May 2007,
a micro analysis of all the promises made by the state since 2002 was carried out.
After considerable debate it was resolved to call a general workers meeting to ask their views,
 so the co-ordination Committee could take a decision on one of the of the following three options:
1-    The MQM to resign from Federal Ministries
2-    The MQM to resign from all Federal and Provincial Ministries
3-    The MQM to quit the government and sit on opposition benches

SUICIDAL ATTACK IN CHARSADDA IS NAKED TERRORISM – ALTAF HUSSAIN
London – 28th April 2007: MQM Founder & Leader Mr Altaf Hussain has strongly condemned the suicide bomb attack in Charsadda, NWFP during the public meeting of Pakistan Peoples Party (Sherpao). He has also expressed his heartfelt grief and sorrow on the loss of several lives as a result and on the injuries caused to others including Federal Interior Minister Aftab Sherpao and his son. He termed this suicide attack as naked terrorism and the elements behind this attack are shedding the blood of innocent people and they are not only the enemy of Islam and Pakistan but also the enemy of the entire humanity. He expressed his heartfelt sympathies and solidarity with the Federal Interior Minister Aftab Sherpao, his son Sikander Sherpao and all the workers of Peoples Party Sherpao Group.  He said that this suicide attack is a national tragedy and me and all my companions of the MQM are saddened and share the sorrow and grief of those who lost their lives in this incident. He said that it is high time now that the entire Pakistani nation gets united to completely rid the Pakistan society of enemies of humanity and the religious extremists. He prayed to the Almighty Allah for the forgiveness of those who lost their lives and for the early recovery of the injured. He demanded of the President General Pervez Musharraf, Prime Minister Shoukat Aziz, Federal Cabinet and the people at the helm of affairs to expose the elements behind this suicidal attack and take firm action against them.

LAHORE: The Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s (MQM) women’s wing last week distributed cheques for Rs: 1 million among rural women under its micro-credit scheme, party officials told Daily Times on Sunday. They said party chief Altaf Hussain had directed the women wing to give special attention to the rural women. They said so women were given a Rs: 20,000 cheque each. The party plans to lend Rs 2 million to rural women. They said the party had started a micro-credit scheme in Sindh to help poor women and now it had decided to launch a similar scheme in the Punjab. MQM women’s wing chief organiser Dr Lala Rukh Mustafa said it would help women become an earning hand each.
