PAUL MET MQM COORDINATION COMMITTEE IN KARACHI

FATHER JOSEPH PAUL COMMENDED MR. ALTAF HUSSAIN FOR HIS EFFORTS
TO PROTECT MINORITY RIGHTS.

Karachi July 21, 2007. A Christian community delegation headed by Catholic Father and the Principal of St. Paul School, Joseph Paul, met with the Head of MQM Coordination Committee Pakistan Mr. Anwar Alam and Member of the Coordination Committee Mr. Shoaib Bokhari. The meeting was held at MQM’s Pakistani Headquarters, Nine Zero, in Azizabad, Karachi. The delegation also included Father Gill Daniel, Bishop of the Methodist Church Dr. Bashir L. Mil, Bishop of the Pentecostal Church Mr. Javed Johnson Ahal, Chairman of International Churches Alliance Pastor Irfan Dean, Irene Javed, Pastor Shafique, and other leaders of the Christian community.

This meeting was attended by the head of MQM Minority Affairs Committee Mr. Munawwar ul Islam along with its members Mr. Stephen Asif and Pastor Javed Anjum. While talking to members of the Coordination Committee, Father Joseph Paul applauded the struggle and endeavors of MQM founder and leader Mr. Altaf Hussain to protect the rights of religious minorities in Pakistan. He thanked Mr. Hussain for his equal treatment of religious minorities of Pakistan and for advocating their rights. Father Joseph Paul asserted that MQM is the only political party in the history of Pakistan which not only sent people from religious minorities to legislative assemblies, but also appointed them as ministers. Thus proving MQM’s founder’s political philosophy of “Realism and Practicalsim.” Other members of the delegation added that those trying to negate MQM’s positive work, were actually failing in their efforts to mislead the public, and that the Christian community will disparage these elements at all levels. The delegation prayed for the health, prosperity, and long life of Mr. Hussain. Members of MQM Coordination Committee reassured the visiting delegation of maximum cooperation from MQM.
