CHAUDHRI IFTIKHAR IS WELCOME TO VISIT
KARACHI ANY TIME-- ALTAF HUSSAIN
Address to members of All Pakistan Muttahida Students Organisation, and party workers in Pakistan, Europe and Canada on the 29th anniversary of APMSO on Sunday Night

Karachi June 11 ---MQM leader Altaf Hussain said that chief justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhury is welcome to visit Karachi whenever he wants and that his party would not bring out any rally on that day. We would instead welcome the CJ. He made this announcement during an address to members of All Pakistan Muttahida Students Organisation, and party workers in Pakistan, Europe and Canada on the 29th anniversary of the party's students wing which was also its parent organisation before the MQM appeared as its off spring in the 80s.

During his speech, Mr. Hussain dwelt at considerable length on the prevailing condition in Pakistan, on the conspiracies hatched against MQM, judicial crisis, May 12 incident, and the role of the media, and on ideology and philosophy of the party.

Addressing the chief justice, and the lawyers community, the MQM leader assured them from the depth of his heart that he or his party was neither against anyone of them, nor did it harbor any ill-weill. MQM was never against the struggle started by the chief justice or the lawyers’ fraternity. We ourselves had been fighting for independence of judiciary. The only difference in our approach is that we wanted judiciary's struggle of independence to remain free from political pressures. Religious or political parties were trying to exploit a purely judicial issue for their own ulterior motives. This should not be permitted because it would be detrimental for the judiciary and its independence. Our stand is based on principles and is guided by considerations to protect the highest judicial values. This was our viewpoint on 12th May also. We wanted the chief justice to visit Karachi and address the high court bar, but what we did not know that a systematic conspiracy had been hatched against MQM and that peace of the city will be destroyed. He again reiterated that the chief justice can visit Karachi any time, and the MQM Rabita Committee will welcome him. No rally will be taken out on that day in Karachi.

He appealed to lawyers community not to provide their platform to political parties to fulfill their designs. He said that the opposition hurled threats of resignation, used all kinds of malicious language against the President, the prime minister but could not succeed in its plan to disrupt the government. He advised them to stop playing foul. Elections were round the corner and will be transparent. Every one will have his chance and poll results will be accepted with open mind and heart.

He said that country was passing through difficult time and conspiracies were being hatched. The conspiracies against MQM are part of a grand design to disrupt the progress and development in Karachi and Sindh as a whole.

The disruptive elements are playing ethnic and racism card to create rift between the peace loving people of Sindh. Refering to May 12 rally he said that MQM workers came with their elderly parents and infants to join the rally. The armed terrorists disrupted the rally and political parties blamed MQM without any evidence. These Parties are scared of MQM growing popularity as no one witnessed such developmental works in sixty years history of the country. The “hidden hands” launched false propaganda against the MQM, hoping that they would be able to destroy MQM. We fully understand their conspiracies - those who are carrying out insidious propaganda against the MQM to dent its popularity should realise that MQM workers and supporters morale will not diminish. Mr. Altaf Hussain said that since 11 June 1978 we have been subjected to most brutal atrocities and extrajudicial execution but MQM graph never diminished. Those who tried to close the chapter of Altaf Hussain, God almighty closed their chapter. The new comers in this field should learn lesson. God is on the side of Altaf Hussain. The MQM is a righteous movement for heavens sake stop conspiring against it. Altaf Hussain does not harm anyone. Had we been a revengeful party we would have taken Islami Jamiat Talba (IJT) to task for their attacks in 1981. We follow the precedence set by the Prophet, to forgive.

He emphasized that MQM is a democratic party and does not advocate violence in any shape or form.  Finally, he prayed to Almighty Allah for justice and strength to sustain conspiracies and atrocities. He congratulated all the party workers in Pakistan and abroad, particularly the APMSO members and Nazim Karachi for their good work and dedication.
