Conspiracies to ignite sectarian violence should be foiled by respecting each other’s religious sensibilities
The Founder and Leader of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) Mr Altaf Hussain has appealed to the followers of different schools of thought and every shade of religious belief to play their role in maintaining religious and sectarian harmony during the month of Muharram. He asked them to thwart the plans of the elements conspiring to provoke sectarian strife by showing unity and tolerance towards each other.

Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) will observe Friday 23 November, the 8 Muharram according to the Islamic Calendar as the Solidary Day with the helpless people of Gaza. Peaceful demonstrations will be held after the Friday prayers by the MQM in order to express solidarity with the oppressed and helpless people of Gaza. This decision was taken in a meeting of the Co-ordination Committee. Mr Altaf Hussain, the founder and leader of the MQM, has endorsed the decision to observe the solidarity day.

Religious sensibilities of people should not be hurt by magnifying parochial differences
The Founder and Leader of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) Mr Altaf Hussain has appealed to the Ulema belonging to different schools of thought, particularly the Shia and the Sunni people, to respect each other’s beliefs and sect with open hearts and defeat the conspiracy to spark sectarian strife. He said that there was complete harmony between the people in the country, especially in the province of Sindh, but some elements magnifying differences by resorting to violence and bloodshed.
