Mirpurkhas will always rank prominently in the long struggle of the MQM The main gathering of the 29th Foundation Day of the MQM will be held in Mirpurkhas on 18th March 2013. This was announced by Mr Altaf Hussain while talking to the office-bearers of zone, sectors, units and women wing of the Mirpurkhas zone of the MQM. He said that the public meeting in Mirpurkhas would be successful, and the people of Mirpurkhas would give their clear verdict in favour of the MQM candidates in the coming general elections.

He expressed his grief and sorrow on the deaths of two people and injuring of many others in the blast. He said that bomb blasts and incidents of terrorism one after another had given rise to many tragedies in the past few months.

Muttahida Qaumi Movement (US) has strongly condemned the attack and torching of the houses of Christians in Lahore’s Badami Bagh. In a joint statement, the MQM (US) Central Organizer, Junaid Fehmi, Joint Central Organizers Mohammad Arshad Hussain and Nadeem Siddiqui as well as members of Central Organising Committee Tauseef Khan, Wasim Zaidi, Saqib Mohyuddin, Wakeel Jamali, Mohammad Zaheer, Ali Hassan, Aamir Qazi, Gul Mohammad and Asad Siddiqui, said that the act of attacking and putting houses of Christians on fire in Badami Bagh amounted to an attack on the Ideology of Pakistan, thereby jolting the foundation of the country.

Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) organized a protest demonstration at 10 Downing Street in order to express solidarity with the victims of the Abbas Town tragedy in Karachi and Badami Bagh tragedy in Lahore. The demonstration continued for over two hours. Members of the Co-ordination Committee Muhammad Anwer, Saleem Shahzad, organizer of MQM UK Dr Saleem Danish and workers and office-bearers of different units of the MQM in UK attended the demonstration. Shumaila Imran, wife of late Dr Imran Farooq, was also present along with her children. Members of the Pakistani community, including women and children were also present on the occasion.

Deputy Convener of the Co-ordination Committee of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) Dr Farooq Sattar has said that the Punjab government should resign immediately as the unfortunate incident in Badami Bagh violated the constitution of Pakistan. He said that the Christian community living in the Punjab was being targeted and victimized persistently while the Punjab government was standing as a silent spectator and doing nothing. He was addressing the participants of a protest demonstration outside Karachi Press Club organized by the Minorities Wing of the MQM.
