In his statement on the occasion of Martyrs Day Patron in Chief of MQM North America Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui paid tribute to MQM martyrs including the elder brother and nephew of Mr. Altaf Hussain and martyr of revolution Dr. Imran Farooq. He said, the party did not bow before any oppressive force in the past and likewise, it would continue its struggle for the truth and justice. Martyrs Day, observed by the MQM each year on December 9th.
Commemorating the ‘Martyrs Day’ MQMUSA organized meetings and congregations in New York, Washington DC, Houston, Atlanta, Detroit, Dallas, New Jersey, Miami and South Florida.

The speakers stressed that hardships kept pouring in MQM's struggle for the rights but MQM faced them with courage and also sacrificed their lives. MQM workers were tortured in official torture cells, they were imprisoned and many of them were disabled for life as well as many were forced into exile but they remained steadfast to the cause.
The struggle of the MQM, they added, was motivated by the welfare of the people of Pakistan instead of merely acquiring political power. Back in the day, we were subjected to a state-backed military operation. At least, 15,000 of our workers were martyred in cold blood.
