Gen-Z of Pakistan should play role to end oppression : Altaf Hussain
#Pakistan is in a critical condition. We need to unite, think deeply, and get ready to fight hard to free our nation from the harsh control of the ruling class and military power. To eliminate the current system of unfairness and suppression, the young people of Pakistan, particularly Generation Z, need to step up. Just like movements for change have occurred worldwide, the youth of Pakistan, together with everyone from different backgrounds, must come together to create change and liberate the country from its leaders.
Without such a movement, it appears extremely difficult to end the entrenched corrupt system and achieve Pakistan's progress and stability. If the people continue to rely only on slogans and speeches, nothing will change.
The legal system in Pakistan is controlled by those in power. Six judges from the Islamabad High Court reported to the Supreme Court that the government was trying to influence them to make beneficial decisions in specific cases. Instead of looking into these serious claims, the judges faced backlash and were moved to different high courts. This hinders the ability to achieve justice.
has been in jail for three years. Even though the High Court has given clear instructions, his lawyers are said to have been prevented from seeing him. It is alleged that he has gone blind in one eye during his time in detention, but he still has not been brought before the court. Do the judges of the higher courts not know about this matter?
I think the punishment given to Imran Khan related to the incidents of May 9, 2023, was also unfair.
He was taken into custody by Rangers while at the Islamabad High Court on May 8, 2023, just a day before the occurrences on May 9, and he stayed in their custody on that day. During the demonstrations happening all over the country on May 9, Imran Khan was not at any of those places. So, how can a case connected to the events of May 9 be linked to him? I am astonished that his lawyers did not bring up such a significant legal argument during the trial in front of the court.
If Shah Mahmood Qureshi from Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf could be cleared from the cases related to May 9 because he wasn't there, then why is Imran Khan being found guilty?
The present circumstances have gotten to a stage where a regular person looking for justice has no options. Even when individuals go to the higher courts instead of the lower ones, it is claimed that judges in the High Court face influence from those in power to make choices that please them.
Those judges who went to the Supreme Court saying they were under pressure, that their families faced harassment, and that they were being threatened, were instead punished rather than receiving protection.
To put an end to this oppression, young people in Pakistan, especially those from Generation Z, need to take action. Not long ago, in India, young people from Generation Z linked to the Cockroach Janta Party
held protests even without an official leader or political group.
They encountered charges from police and acts of aggression, and there were reports of injuries or deaths among some young demonstrators. However, they persisted in their protests until the government agreed to their requests. The Minister of Education stepped down, and the young demonstrators ultimately achieved what they were fighting for.
The youth of Pakistan should come together and launch a united effort to change the country's system and put an end to unfair treatment and oppression. If they are willing to endure police charges, gas attacks, arrests, and make sacrifices like the Kakroach Janta Party demonstrators did, then even the strongest powers in Pakistan will have no choice but to give in.
