Perishing of lives in the Baldia Town incident is a National Tragedy: Altaf Hussain

Health, safety, environment and quality laws should be fully enforced in order to avoid such a great tragedy in future 
The Founder and Leader of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) Mr Altaf Hussain has said that the perishing of over two hundred lives in a factory in Baldia Town due to a horrific blaze was a National Tragedy. He said this while talking to the volunteers of the Khidmat-i-Khalq Foundation at a camp near the factory in Baldia Town. Deputy Convener of the Co-ordination Committee Dr Farooq Sattar, provincial minister Shaikh Muhammad Afzal and MPA Hanif Shaikh were also present at the camp to oversee relief work.
Mr Hussain asked the Sindh government to make available latest machinery and equipment for the relief work in the affected factory. He also called for setting up a committee comprising of experts in order to carry out survey of other factories. The committee should take stock of the facilities for meeting emergency situations in the factories and make recommendations.
 
Mr Hussain offered heartfelt condolences to the mourning families who lost their loved-ones in the inferno and prayed Almighty Allah to shower His blessings on the deceased workers. He also prayed for the health and speedy recovery of the injured.
 
Mr Hussain demanded of President Asif Zardari, Prime Minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf, Governor Sindh Dr Ishrat-ul-Ebad, and Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah to arrange latest machineries and equipment for meeting such challenges in future. He said that all the law relating to health, safety, environment and quality should be fully enforced in order to avoid such big tragedies and loss of lives in future.
