LONDON – April 11, 2026: The Founder and Leader of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), Mr. Altaf Hussain, has strongly condemned the recent Israeli airstrikes on Lebanon, particularly the attack in Mayfadoun that resulted in the loss of innocent lives on April 11, 2026.
In a statement issued from the MQM International Secretariat in London, Mr. Hussain expressed deep sorrow and grief over the martyrdom of three individuals in South Lebanon. He called the escalation of Israeli aggression a grave violation of international law and a threat to regional stability.
He further stated that the repeated strikes on residential areas and civilian infrastructure in Lebanon are a blatant disregard for human rights. The international community must evolve its role from silent observers to actively taking concrete steps to halt this bloodshed.
Mr. Altaf Hussain specifically addressed the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Mian Shehbaz Sharif, and the Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal Asim Munir, noting the significance of the ongoing diplomatic talks in Islamabad, and urged the Pakistani leadership to utilise the current platform effectively.
As Pakistan is currently hosting high-level negotiations between the United States and Iran, Mr. Hussain demanded that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir must formally raise the issue of Israeli aggression against Lebanon during these talks.
He emphasised that peace in the Middle East cannot be achieved without extending the scope of the ceasefire to the sovereignty of Lebanon.
He called upon the Pakistani leadership to remind the visiting dignitaries that the spillover of conflict into Lebanon risks sabotaging the diplomatic efforts currently being undertaken on Pakistani soil.
Mr. Hussain concluded by offering his heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims in Lebanon and prayed for the swift recovery of the injured. He strongly reiterated that MQM stands for the principles of justice, peace, and the sanctity of human life across the globe.
