Your Excellency,
My name is Altaf Hussain, the founder and leader of MQM(Muttahida Quami Movement), the third largest political party of Pakistan andsecond largest in the province of Sindh.
I am sure you are aware of the fact that people of Karachi and Sindh are currently facing deplorable and life threating conditions due to the heavy rainfall and flooding that has shaken entire infrastructure of Karachi, the financial and economic infrastructure of the city has collapsed due to this disaster.
Your Excellency! If immediate attention and assistance is not provided to the people of Karachi and the province of Sindh there is an imminent threat of large scale of death and famine as covid-19 still lingers around the city.
Your Excellency! It would rather be foolish to accept any assistance from the corrupt military establishment of Pakistan or federal government or even Sindh government as they have completely failed in maintaining law and order. Due to their failure the sewage system of the city has collapsed and sewage water mixed with rain has entered into the homes and streets of Karachi. Karachi is the economic hub that provides 70 % of the taxes to the federal government the highest in Pakistan.
Your Excellency! In the past it has been observed by local as well as international media that any aid given to Pakistan government in the name of calamity such as one in Karachi right now has always fallen in the laps of powerful corrupt military establishment of Pakistan and it was never utilized for the actual purpose of helping humanity in need.
Your Excellency! I would humbly request you to please take immediate actions and release the aid for the starving people of Karachi and Sindh on emergency basis with the caution to supervise the aid under the United Nations observers and not the Pakistan government or Army officials.
Your Excellency! I am addressing you as a last resort to save the precious lives of the people living in Karachi and Sindh as they have nowhere else to look but the United Nations.
