Altaf Hussain condemns U.S. attack on Iran as barbaric and a brazen act of aggression
#IsraeliranWar #IranIsraelConflict
The recent #U.S. airstrikes on Iran's nuclear infrastructure mark one of the most brutal, tyrannical, and blatant acts of aggression in modern history. The methodical deployment of thousands of tons of bunker-buster bombs by the United States against a sovereign nation's strategic facilities showcases not only unrestrained military savagery but also the utter disregard for international law and human dignity.
This unprovoked and unilateral assault was not merely the act of one state it was facilitated, either directly or indirectly, by several other nations and international stakeholders who must share in the responsibility for this blatant violation of Iran’s sovereignty. The United Nations, too, must answer for its silence and inaction.
A critical question must be asked: what was the legal and moral justification for this ruthless attack on Iran? Did Iran strike American territory? In the context of the recent Iran-Israel conflict, was it Iran that initiated aggression, or was it Israel? If Israel attacked first, then what warranted this violent U.S. intervention against Iran?
Under the United Nations Charter, every state regardless of its size, power, or alliances is guaranteed territorial integrity, sovereignty, and security. Iran is a sovereign nation, and its nuclear installations are integral to its national defense infrastructure. By targeting these facilities, the United States has not only breached international law but has torn apart the very fabric of the global order and made a mockery of the United Nations Charter.
President
, upon assuming office, promised to end the Russia–Ukraine war and the #Gaza conflict. Yet, instead of diffusing tensions, he has ignited a new conflict. While Israel continues to bomb #Palestinian camps in Gaza, killing women, children, and the elderly many of them in starvation has the U.S. taken any steps to restrain Israel’s atrocities? Has President #Trump called upon #Israel to halt its daily airstrikes? Has he done anything to prevent Israel’s ongoing aggression against Iran?
On the contrary, by launching an offensive against Iran, President Trump has abandoned diplomacy and embraced war. His actions directly contradict his public commitments and reveal a dangerous double standard. The United States, rather than playing a peacemaking role, has now aligned itself with the perpetrators of violence.
The U.S. assault on Iran is not just a violation of international norms—it is an egregious assault on human rights. President Trump’s decision to bomb Iran in support of Israel has bloodied America’s moral standing on the global stage. The U.S. must now answer not only to the United Nations and the international community but also to the American people, whose name and resources are being used to perpetuate this aggression.
I, Altaf Hussain, and the MQM categorically condemn this cruel and tyrannical attack in the strongest possible terms. We call upon all political, religious, and civil rights organizations and every individual who believes in humanity to raise their voice against this injustice, this brutality, and this clear-cut violation of peace.
It is particularly alarming that this incident follows Pakistan’s military leadership’s recent visit to the United States. On June 14, 2025, while the U.S. celebrated its 250th military parade, Pakistan’s Field Marshal General Asim Munir was in the United States. Although the U.S. State Department officially claimed it had not invited him, this raises critical questions.
If General #AsimMunir was not invited, what prompted his visit? Why did Pakistan’s top military official reportedly seek a meeting with President Trump so desperately? When the meeting finally took place, no official photographs were released.
The Pakistani government claimed that a luncheon was hosted in his honor yet, curiously, not a single image of that event has surfaced. Only a menu card appeared on social media, raising further doubts.
More troubling still is the fact that just four days after this meeting, the U.S. launched its assault on Iran. Who provided the operational support or staging grounds for this attack? Did Pakistan, knowingly or unknowingly, play a role? Given Pakistan’s unfortunate historical precedent of being used by foreign powers particularly during the U.S.-led war in Afghanistan these suspicions are not without basis.
Once again, I reiterate my long-standing warning: #Pakistan must not allow itself to be used in proxy wars or dragged into the interests of global superpowers.
In the aftermath of this reckless attack, the world now watches closely. How will #Russia and #China respond? The geopolitical signs point toward the ominous possibility of a Third World War. The flames of this conflict, if not extinguished immediately, could engulf entire regions and destabilize the world order irreparably.
It is true that America is a global superpower and few can challenge it militarily. However, power does not absolve responsibility. The actions undertaken by the United States represent not strength, but tyranny. They echo the Yazidi spirit, the spirit of brutal oppression. Those who orchestrate or facilitate the massacre of innocent civilians will not escape the divine justice of God. The consequences of such cruelty are inevitable, be it through divine retribution or the unstoppable force of historical reckoning.
Altaf Hussain.
