AMPSO worker’s wife and son laid to rest amid moving scenes

The occupants of the ill-fated vehicle – Mrs Yasmeen and a one-and-half year infant Abeer Khan – who were drowned in Shafiq Morr’s storm-water drain during torrential rains on Saturday and whose bodies were recovered on Monday were the wife and son of an active worker of All-Pakistan Muttahida Students Organisation’s (APMSO) Dawood College of Engineering Technology (Sector-E) chapter.
Mr Muzaffar, 36, who was driving the car when it drowned in the storm-water drain, did his engineering in Chemical engineering from the DCET in 2000 and he was a permanent resident of Hyderabad’s Latifabad.
Though the bodies of Mr Muzaffar’s wife, Yasmeen, and his son Abeer Khan, have been recovered following retrieving the ill-fated vehicle from the storm-water drain on Monday, former was still missing.
Haq Parast Member of National Assembly, Shaikh Salahuddin and Haq Parast Sindh Assembly Members Mohammed Raza, Iftikhar Alam, workers and office- bearers of MQM along with divers of Navy and officials of Fire Brigade, Gulberg and North Nazimabad administration remained present at the site where the ill-fated vehicle had drowned throughout the rescue operation.
The Haq Parast legislators took the bodies of Mr Muzaffar’s wife and his son to their residence for making arrangement for their burial. On this occasion, they expressed their sympathies with the bereaved family.
Later, the funeral prayers of the APMSO worker’s wife and son were offered at North Nazimabad’s Masjid-e-Quba and they were buried at the Mohammad Shah graveyard amidst moving scenes.
MQM’s Coordination Committee’s Deputy Convener, Engr. Nasir Jamal, Muttahida’s deputy parliamentary party leader in Sindh Assembly, Khawaja Izhar-ul-Hassan, MNA Shaikh Salahuddin, MPA Waseem Qureshi, APMSO Chairman Abdul Wahab, Secretary-General Tauseef Aijaz , Central Cabinet worker Adeel Malik, APMSO and North Nazimabad Sector workers, office bearers, sympathizers and relatives of deceased attended the funeral and burial ceremonies.
