Altaf Hussan: Appeale to UN 30 July 2006
THE UNITED NATIONS, G8 COUNTRIES AND EUROPEAN UNION SHOULD INTERVENE TO STOP ISRAEL AIR STRIKES ON LEBANESE CIVILIANS… ALTAF HUSSAIN
LONDON, 30 JULY 2006.The MQM leader Mr Altaf Hussain has strongly condemned the Israeli bombing on Lebanese civilians. He appealed to the United Nations, European Union and G8 Countries to intervene immediately to stop Israeli air strikes upon Lebanese civilians. He particularly referred to the bombing of Qana in Southern Lebanon where 51 civilians including 22 children were killed. Mr Altaf Hussain asked the UN to take serious notice of constant Israeli air strikes upon Lebanese civilians and the loss of lives of innocent women, children and the elderly. The fight is between Israeli army and Hezbollah forces, brutally targeting civilians is a flagrant violation of the UN Charter. Mr Altaf Hussain further stated that I am appealing to the UN, European Union and G8 countries, so that their timely intervention will safeguard the lives of innocent Lebanese men, women and children, as I consider appealing to OIC Islamic governments pointless because of their usual role as spineless spectators.
