 Posted on: 5/20/2015
Member of Coordination Committee Syed Haider Abbas Rizvi has said that MQM will organize peaceful public protests against the artificial scarcity of water in Sindh especially in Karachi from 22nd May 2015 to bring the attentions of the provincial government.
Talking to a press conference at Khursheed Begum Secretariat, MQM leader said that MQM was going to begin a stream of public protests regarding water crisis all over Sindh, including Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur, Mirpurkhas, Nawabshah and other cities.
Haider Abbas said that the aim of the protests rallies would be to bring the attention of the provincial government to remove the artificial scarcity of water in Sindh, especially in Karachi. He said that the MQM was a political force and raised the water crisis previously too but it seemed that the situation was more pathetic.
He said that MQM kept struggling to provide sufficient water to the Karachiites for the last eight years because people had to suffer with their life essentials. He said that Karachi needed 1000 million gallons but only 400 MGs were provided in the city and the distribution of water also created chaos.
Haider Abbas, leader of a progressive and moderate political party ‘MQM’ kept raising voice against the terrorism and extremism, referred to more than 160 illegal hydrants and a single water tanker was being provided to the Karachiites of rupees 5000 to 12000. He said that the city reflected the scenario of Karbala as people were being deprived of their fundamental rights.
Member Coordination Committee Kanwar Naveed Jamil said that MQM Parliamentarians called on Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah and requested him to pay due attention to the water crisis. He said that water was an extreme necessity of life and it should not be politicized and when MQM was in local government there was not any crisis.
Opposition Leader in Sindh Assembly Khawaja Izharul Hasan said that MQM presented adjournment motion during the Assembly session
