I want to make Pakistan free in letter and spirit and independent. Since Pakistan has economically collapsed and hence the country's Premier has chosen to be a flatterer. —————————————— I earnestly wish that the people in Pakistan should rule over the country, and to make the country absolutely free and autonomous, and thus Pakistan can formulate its own designsted foreign policy without dictation from any foreign power, and that the country must become debt-free instead of relying on aids, and charity. The incumbent government of Pakistan, by inviting representatives of foreign countries and sitting with them, tries to create the impression that all economic matters are being settled through mutual consultation and coordination. As a matter of fact,, this is not the case. On government expense, representatives of the international media are accommodated in hotels, and to deceive the nation, it is projected that “everything is fine, and we have good trade relations with the world.” The people are duped with a fake impression that the country is economically is galloping high tides, while the truth is that today Pakistan is passing through most difficult economic situation that is not seen in its 78-year history. Foreign investors are absolutely unwilling to sign any economic or trade agreements in Pakistan. Due to economic deterioration and collapse, hundreds of textile mills, industries, and giant companies in Pakistan are shutting down, leading to a sharp increase in unemployment. The inflation in the country is at its peak in 78 years; the prices of common use commodities are skyrocketing, and people find it hard to afford even one meal a day. You may recall the much-hyped China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) announced a decade ago which was said to transform Pakistan within two years. Five years ago, in my address to the General Workers’ assembly, I had opined that this was a drama and that the United States would never let CPEC reach completion. The United States President Donald Trump, being a civilian president, recently attended the peace conference held in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt, for peace in the Middle East where he met civilian heads of Islamic and European countries. Why did President Trump mention Pakistan’s Field Marshal there? What was the purpose? What does it mean when an American president talks about the Pakistani Chief of Army Staff in such a gathering where various presidents, prime ministers, and officials of many countries were present? The US president often remembers Pakistan’s Field Marshal, yet when Donald Trump was contesting the presidential election, a large number of Pakistani Americans sent letters and petitions to the President and the State Department informing them about the illegal arrest of Imran Khan. Still, the United States did not issue any statement condemning the unlawful detention of Imran Khan and his wife. However, President Trump continues to remember Pakistan’s Field Marshal even in his absence, while Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif repeatedly salutes the American president. The reason is simple: Pakistan is dependent on foreign powers and follows their dictation. The flattering conduct of Pakistan’s Prime Minister is because the country has been completely destroyed economically. Its system is running on IMF, World Bank, and other international financial institutions’ loans and foreign alms and charity. The funds Pakistan receives from the IMF and World Bank for public welfare, development, and job creation are spent on official receptions, while economic devastation and unemployment have reached their peak. Imran Khan’s fault is the same as that of Altaf Hussain, I want the rule of the people in Pakistan, I want to make the country truly free and independent so that Pakistan can frame its own foreign policy and does not need to take dictation from any foreign power or superpower, and instead of living on IMF and World Bank handouts, it should stand on its own feet. India became independent alongside Pakistan, but unlike Pakistan, India does not take dictation from any country, including the United States, because India adopted a non-aligned policy from the very beginning. India formulates its own independent foreign policy to make its nation stand firmly on its own, without shaping its policies for the sake of any other power. We need to ask ourselves why we do not adopt an independent foreign policy. How long will Pakistan continue to survive on IMF and World Bank loans and charity? We are already so indebted that we are no longer in a position to repay our debts. Where exactly are we taking this country? Now there are also reports that, in the name of establishing peace, the armed forces of Muslim countries will be sent to Gaza. My question is: Why are only Muslim countries being called upon to mediate a ceasefire between Israel and Palestine and to rehabilitate the Palestinians? What will the armed forces of Muslim countries do in Palestine? Are they being sent there to fight the Israeli army or against the Palestinian people? Israel’s attacks on Gaza continue, can the armies of Muslim countries stop these attacks or launch a counter-attack? If anyone believes that the Muslim countries’ armies can stop Israel’s attacks, they are living in a fool’s paradise. Altaf Hussain. 336th address on TikTok October 24, 2025
