September 17, 2026 is the day I turn 73. To celebrate this special birthday, the Coordination Committee, after discussing together, chose to have Tree Plantation Week from 9 to 15 September. There is no better present for me than to have trees planted for me in Pakistan and in other countries as well.
After the tree planting initiative was announced, I have been so happy to watch countless videos and photos of older women and men, young people, students, boys and girls, and even sweet little kids joyfully taking part in the campaign and planting trees in my honor.
I think that planting trees is a way to show respect and help people. When you put a tree in the ground today, it will grow to give fruit and flowers, and its seeds will create many more trees.
Even if a tree doesn’t have fruit or flowers, it still offers shade where people can relax and feel at ease.
From a scientific point of view, planting trees is very helpful. Trees take in harmful particles and help clean the air. Using sunlight, they perform photosynthesis, which allows them to give off oxygen into the air.
Countless people breathe in oxygen and breathe out carbon dioxide, which adds to air pollution. Trees are nature's way of cleaning the dirty air and lowering pollution levels because they take in harmful gases.
People rely on oxygen to live, and trees offer oxygen while also taking in harmful gases like carbon dioxide, helping to shield us from pollution in the environment.
In this manner, trees are crucial for people to live. They also play a role in creating rain, which leads to improved farming and food production.
Moreover, trees can lessen the strength of earthquakes.
Growing trees is vital for keeping our surroundings clean and healthy. When we plant trees, they generate oxygen and offer blooms and fruits. This is good not only for you and your neighbors but also for future generations.
In this way, putting in trees can be seen as a way of continuous giving.
Additionally, planting trees can lower global warming and aid in restoring the ozone layer, which has been harmed by human actions. When you grow trees, the area around you will be cleaner and healthier, and the trees will offer protection to the environment.

Growing a tree is a lasting gift to others, so much so that on Judgment Day, this simple action could help protect you from punishment and earn you forgiveness for your wrongdoings.
