The incident in which masked individuals attacked my home is deeply regrettable. The attackers climbed over the gate and attempted to enter the house by breaking the glass of the entrance door, but they fled when the security alarm went off. By the grace and mercy of Allah Almighty, and through the prayers of mothers, sisters, elders, young people, children and the entire nation, Allah protected me from this attack.
I have faced several attacks in Pakistan before. On 21 December 1991, I was attacked with a hand grenade in the Federal B Area of Karachi, at Aisha Manzil. Allah protected me on that occasion as well. Following that incident, at the request of my colleagues, I came to London and continued the struggle from here.
Even after coming here, whenever my birthday approached, the establishment would carry out some act or another aimed at turning the celebrations of 17 September into tears. Sixteen years ago, Dr. Imran Farooq, the Shaheed-e-Inqilab, was also murdered in London on 16 September, one day before my birthday. During the course of the movement’s struggle, dozens of similar incidents were carried out.
I have been arrested several times in Pakistan. I was subjected to torture in detention centres and kept in solitary confinement. I have seen death from close quarters many times.
To those who seek to take my life, I want to say: “Kullu nafsin dha’iqatul maut” — every soul shall taste death. Every human being has to taste death.
I was not afraid of such attacks yesterday, and I am not afraid of the attack that took place the previous day.
I want to make it absolutely clear once again to all governments and all my adversaries and enemies: Altaf Hussain has never been afraid, has never bowed down, will never be afraid and will never bow down. If Altaf Hussain bows his head, he will bow it only before Allah Almighty. He will not bow before even the most powerful person or authority.
The word “Hussain” is part of my name. I have deep love and devotion for this sacred name. Because of this association, I can follow in the footsteps of Hussain and have my head cut off, but I cannot bow my head before any Yazid of the time or pledge allegiance to him.
To all loyal colleagues, do not be worried. By the grace and mercy of Allah Almighty, your brother Altaf Hussain is still alive.
There is neither any weakness nor any sign of fear in your brother’s voice. Altaf Hussain has never learned to fear anyone except Allah Almighty.
