MQM’s 42nd Foundation Day Celebrated in Ireland Limerick.
LONDON. [UK]. April 28: The 42nd Anniversary of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) was joyfully celebrated in Limerick, which is Ireland's second-largest city, organized by MQM Ireland.
This event was the first official meeting of MQM in Ireland after its official unit was set up in the country.
People from different cities, such as Limerick and Dublin, came to the celebration with their families.
Notable attendees included members from London, such as Mustafa Azizabadi, who is the Convener of the Coordination Committee, Sohail Khanzada, a member of the Central Executive Committee, Yasmin Naveen, who leads the MQM UK Women’s Wing, and several other MQM UK members.
While speaking to the audience, Mustafa Azizabadi mentioned that the ongoing efforts to oppress MQM over the years have been unsuccessful, as the party is actually growing instead of getting smaller.
He pointed out that a genuine belief cannot be limited by location, and Altaf Hussain's vision continues to reach beyond borders despite challenges, schemes, and oppression.
He also remarked that the idea of ending Altaf Hussain’s influence has been proven incorrect, as his popularity and support from the public are on the rise.
Furthermore, he stated that Altaf Hussain’s goal is to create a fair system in Pakistan where talent matters more than quotas, and every person, no matter their language, region, sect, religion, or gender, is given equal rights in all areas of life.
He emphasized that Pakistan is not just for those in power but for everyone, especially the less fortunate and middle-class people who are affected by the influence of the feudal system.
He is hopeful that as more people become aware, they will eventually break free from the corrupt and old ways of governance.
Azizabadi also honored, on behalf of Altaf Hussain, MQM Ireland Organizer Mahmood Mujahid, Joint Organizer Umar Tahir, and organizing committee members Azim, Ghazanfar, Rumi, and Ubaid for their successful efforts in putting the event together.
During the event, Sohail Khanzada praised the attendees on the 42nd Foundation Day and spoke about Altaf Hussain’s political journey which started at the age of 25 at the University of Karachi. He mentioned that MQM was officially formed when Hussain was 31, and by the time he was 34, the party had already won in local government elections—an achievement that had never happened before in Pakistan’s political scene.
He mentioned that Altaf Hussain gave power to young people from low-income and middle-class families to get involved in politics, which made the powerful people worried and led to actions taken against him because they saw it as a threat to their control.
Yasmin Naveen, in her speech, said that Altaf Hussain was important in awakening political awareness among women in Pakistan, motivating them to take part and ensuring they had a voice in parliament, something not often provided by other political groups.
Mahmood Mujahid, the organizer from MQM Ireland, shared his dedication, saying that the Ireland branch would lead the way for Altaf Hussain’s movement and be crucial in its efforts.
The event was led by Umar, and Hafiz Hassan had the privilege of reading from the Holy Quran.
Women and children also took part in cutting the cake for Foundation Day.
Azad Tundolkar, the former Mayor of Limerick and a well-known community figure, was present at the event as a special guest.
On this occasion, Mustafa Azizabadi presented him with a book by Altaf Hussain on the Israel-Palestine conflict and briefed him about Hussain’s ideology and struggle.
