AIMED AT EVOLVING CONSENSUS

Muttahida Qaumi Movement founder and leader Altaf Hussain said here on Wednesday that the proposal to convene roundtable conference in the wake of threats being faced by the country was aimed at finding out solutions with consenses among all political and religious party of the country meet those challenges.
There could be difference of opinion about the threats about which I have hinted and cannot be dismissed altogether but deliberated upon as the country's biggest issue, at present, is its stability and survival.

Mr Hussain was speaking at the meeting held at the MQM's International Secretariate London. It was attended, among others, by Sindh minister for Industries, London, , Rauf Siuddiqui, MQM International Secretariat In-charge Mustafa Azizabadi, Joint In-charge Mohammad Ashfaq, Qasim Ali Raza and other members of the International Secretariat.
He said no one can deny that Pak-US relations are not better these days as the trust deficit betweenPakistanandAmericahas widened.

MQM chief wished that the Inter-Services Intelligence chief General Zaheer-ul-Islam's visit to theUnited Statesmay succeed as the improved relations would help both the countries.

In this regard, he pointed out that we should not forget that we neither super power now could be scare any country on the basis of atomic power as the numberr of atmmic weapons possessed by Russia has no match in the world.

Referring to the current confentation between judiciary and the government, Mr Hussain said a mockery of the tussle was being made in the country and abroad, besides senior lawyers started expressing their reservations about the judiciary openly.
The government and judiciary will have to think that no one will suffer in the wake of the confrontation among the institution but it would be the country which will face the music. He said that businessmans and the shopkeepers ofPakistan, particularly ofKarachi, are highly perturbed and their businessess are being ruined because of `Bhatta' (extortion) Mafia. If the federal and provincial governments and law enforecement agencies are failed to control the prevailing situation then I will be forced to inform the nation about the hidden behind the `Bhatta' mafia as even the children know that no one could indulge in such heinous crimes without enjoying support and patronage.

 

He invited Ulema, Analysts, Intellectuals, anchor persons to sit together and find out the solutions for the challenges by the country in the light of ground realities.
