Pakistan cannot become a civilized and democratic country unless politics and welfare work go side by side: Dr Farooq Sattar

Serving the humanity has been the driving force in the life
 of Altaf Hussain: Mustafa Kamal

Karachi: 8th July 2012

Deputy Convener of the Co-ordination Committee of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) Dr Farooq Sattar has said that Pakistan would become a truly democratic and civilized country if politics and welfare works are done side by side. It was because of this reason that Mr Altaf Hussain always gives special emphasis to welfare works along with political activities.

Dr Farooq Sattar was addressing a large gathering in Lal Qila Ground in Azizabad in connection with the collecting zakat and fitra during the holy month of the Ramadan. Members of the Co-ordination Committee Mr Wasim Aftab and Mr Mustafa Kamal also spoke on the occasion. Mr Kamal is also the Chief Trustee of the Khidmat-i-Khalq Foundation.

Speaking on the occasion Dr Sattar said that the people living below the line of poverty should also be remembered in the month of Ramadan besides doing other acts of piety. He said that a system for collecting zakat should be evolved for highlighting the concept of a real welfare state.

Dr Sattar said serving the humanity is the best form of worship and Mr Hussain has been repeatedly saying this tradition of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) in his speeches. He said that the change could only be brought by following this tradition of the Holy Prophet (PBUH).

Dr Sattar said that the MQM has created a model for the collection of zakat and fitra towards its objective of making Pakistan a welfare state. He said that the MQM has established new trends in the political environment of the country.

Speaking on the occasion member of the Co-ordination Committee Mr Aftab said that the MQM is the biggest threat to the decaying feudal system in the country and it was because of this reason that the resources of the state that should have been used for public welfare, have used against the MQM because it was giving a message of awakening to the people.

Chief Trustee of the KKP Mr Kamal said that serving the humanity has always been the driving force in the life of Mr Hussain. He asked the workers to follow the teachings of Mr Hussain in collecting zakat and fitra
