ELECTIONS ACT AMENDMENT BILL 2023 AND THE POWERS OF THE CARE TAKER GOVERNMENT
In a joint session of the Parliament (Senate and National Assembly) held yesterday on July 26, 2023, various opinions were expressed regarding the Election Act Amendment Bill- 2023, which includes amendments related to additional powers of the interim government. Senior political analysts agree that the upcoming interim government will not be bound to hold elections within 3 months, but may extend their tenure for an unspecified period. There is also a consensus among analysts that elections may not take place within the next 3 months in the country. However, it is possible to extend the interim
