MQM condemns arrest of newly-elect councilor in Mirpurkhas
 
KARACHI, 22-04-2016:
The Coordination Committee of Muttahida Quami Movement strongly condemned the arbitrary arrest of MQM Zonal member of Mirpurkhas and newly-elected councilor Farooq Jameel Durrani and termed it state driven brutality.
 
In a statement, the Coordination Committee said that the plain-clothed and masked policemen raided Jameel’s house without any warrant between Thursday and Friday night. It said during the process his family members were humiliated and abused especially his wife and son was reviled and tortured.
 
The masked cops dragged him while beating and pushing, and took him to unknown destination. It said that the authorities were totally in denial about the arrest and his whereabouts are not being shared even with the family. It showed its concerns regarding his life after mysterious disappearance and said that the Karachi operation was extended to other urban areas of Sindh.
 
The Committee said that the law enforcement agencies were continuously arresting MQM’s workers and supporters to create panic among them to facilitate the so-called defence party. It warned the Sindh government and authorities not to provoke people by such discriminating tactics otherwise they would be compelled to go for a peaceful protest.
