If supported I can emerge as a unanimous candidate: Maulana Fazlur Rehman
Decisions should be taken with political judgment and foresight: Altaf Hussain
JUI (F) Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman telephoned MQM Founder and Leader Mr Altaf Hussain and exchanged views on the fast changing political situation in the country. Speaking on the occasion Maulana Fazlur Rehman said that political turmoil on the election of the prime ministers and incidents of hooliganism in the Punjab Assembly were leading towards confrontation. He said that this should be avoided lest the democracy should be harmed. He said that if supported, he could emerge as a unanimous candidate. He also apprised Mr Hussain about the negotiations with the leaders of the PML (Q) and added that even PML (N) was ready to extend support to him.
Mr Hussain agreed with the observations of Maulana Fazlur Rehman and said a sagacious approach was needed if democracy was to continue in the country. Differences would have to subside and decisions should be taken with political judgment and foresight otherwise the continuation of democracy in the country might suffer. He assured Maulana Fazlur Rehman that he would convey his concerns regarding the continuation of the democracy and impeding the way of undemocratic forces to President Asif Zardari. He also gave assurance that if there was an agreement on any name by all political forces in the country, including the PPP, the MQM would also not oppose. Unanimity would be better for the democracy.
