MQM Co-ordination Committee condemns killings of two MQM workers

Inaction on the part of law-enforcing agencies has emboldened criminal elements in Karachi

Karachi: 4th June 2012:
The Co-ordination Committee of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) has strongly condemned the killing of Asim Ahsan, a worker of Old Lyari Sector, and Muhammad Mansoor, a worker of Unit UC – 3B of Ranchore Line Sector of the MQM at the hands of criminal elements. Asim Ahsan was killed in his clinic in Bihar Colony while Muhammad Mansoor was gunned down at his bangle's shop in Mithadar area. They expressed grave concerns on the increasing activities of the criminal elements in Karachi.

The Co-ordination Committee said that the criminal elements have started eliminating the MQM workers and the incidents of extortion, kidnapping for ransom, and antisocial elements have created feelings of being unprotected in the hearts and minds of citizens. They said that the activities of the criminal were continuing without any fear of the law, and it appeared that the MQM workers, businesspersons and the general public were left to the mercy of the criminal elements.

The Co-ordination Committee said that Karachi is the backbone of the economic activities of the country and hence the inaction on the part of law-enforcing agencies had emboldened the criminal elements, and they were operating in utter contempt of the law.

The Co-ordination Committee expressed sympathies to the bereaved family members of Asim Ahsan and Muhammad Mansoor and prayed for their divine forgiveness and eternal peace.

The Co-ordination Committee demanded of President Asif Zardari, Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani, Interior Minister Rehman Malik, Governor Sindh Dr Ishrat-ul-Ebad and Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah to take serious notice of the killings of Asim Ahsan and Muhammad Mansoor. They also called for iron-fisted action against criminals involved in killings, kidnapping for ransom and extortion.
