Altaf Hussain had praised Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif
The MQM Co-ordination Committee has said that MQM leader Altaf Hussain has not made any criticism of the army leadership in his address. Referring to the tweets of DG ISPR Maj Gen Asim Bajwa, it said that Mr Hussain had instead praised the Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif.
It said Mr Hussain had appealed to the army chief to do justice with the MQM. It said this constituted praise and not criticism. Mr Hussain had demanded that action should be taken against those who had looted national exchequer alongside the Zarb-e-Azb.
The Co-ordination Committee said Mr Hussain had not criticized the arrest of criminal elements. He had said that he was conducting an inquiry on the issue of sectarianism and even if his own brother was involved in anything, he should be hanged.
Referring to the meeting held in the CM House and the participatation of an important person in the meeting which was hinted by the Co-ordination Committee in a press conference and Mr Hussain in his peech, it said that the important personality attending the meeting besides CM Sindh Qaim Ali Shah and former President Asif Zardari, does not necessarily imply someone from armed forces.
The Co-ordination Committee said that Mr Hussain had praised the armed forces the steps being taken by COAS Gen Raheel Sharif in a number of speeches.
It said that Mr Hussain publicly saluted the armed forces and in a Million March. Such things could boost the morale of the armed forces in the public but could not cause hatred.
The Co-ordination Committee said affiliating a patriotic political party MQM with the notorious agency RAW, particularly at a time when Zarb-e-Azb was continuing, could inflame public sentiments.
