Complete strike in Karachi should serve as a warning to the criminals of gag war: MQM Co-ordination Committee
 Posted on: 6/13/2012
The Co-ordination Committee of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) has said that the success of the peaceful strike called by the Karachi Tajir Ittehad should serve as a warning to the criminals of the gang war involved in kidnappings for ransom, killings and lawlessness in Karachi. It once again expressed solidarity with the business community in the city.

The Co-ordination Committee said that it was the democratic right of every Pakistani citizen to do peaceful protest. The constitution also guarantees this basic right. The MQM was working to restore normalcy in Karachi by eliminating lawlessness and it was because of this purpose that the MQM had announced its support to the strike call given by the traders.

The Co-ordination Committee said that that the general public, traders, transporters had made the strike completely successful by closing their shops and businesses. The forceful strike registered by the successful strike was highly commendable.

The Co-ordination Committee said that it was the primary duty of the government to provide security to the citizens but regretted that the government was not discharging its responsibility with the seriousness that it deserved. The abdication of responsibility on the part of the government was directly responsible for the upsurge in crime rate in the city.

The Co-ordination Committee demanded of President Asif Zardari, Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani, Advisor Interior Rehman Malik, Governor Sindh Dr Ishrat-ul-Ebad and Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah to take immediate action against hardened criminals involved in heinous crimes of kidnappings for ransom, extortion and bloodshed.

The Co-ordination Committee said that the criminals should be brought to justice and given exemplary punishment.
