MQM’s Ex-MNAs slam conspiracy to snatch MQM mandate

Former members of National Assembly, belonging to Haq Parast group, have strongly condemned the killings of MQM candidate for Sindh Assembly, Fakhrul Islam and APMSO’s former senior office-bearer, Shiraz Azfar, in Hyderabad and Karachi, respectively, saying that such terrorist acts were part of a conspiracy aimed at snatching MQM’s electoral mandate.
In a joint statement issued on Friday, the Haq Parast former members of National Assembly, said that elements getting perturbed over the MQM’s popularity and its electoral activities had let a reign of terror by targeting MQM candidates and workers and, as such, they are indulging in flagrant violations elections’ code of conduct.
They said that all those conspirators who thought that they could terrorize MQM workers by sabotaging the electoral environment were befooling themselves as by doing so they wanted to bring an end to the continuity of democracy by creating instability in the country.
The former Haq Parast legislators said that political victimization of candidates and workers, irrespective of their party affiliation, was an insult to democracy as well as open violation of elections’ code of conduct and, hence these elements cannot be sincere to their nation and the country.
Expressing their heartfelt condolences with the families of Fakhrul Islam and Sheraz Zafar, they prayed to Almighty Allah to rest the departed souls in eternal peace and grant fortitude to the bereaved family members to bear this irreparable loss.
At the outset, the former Hap Parast legislator demanded of president Asif Ali Zardari, caretaker prime minister, retired Justice Mir Hazar Khan Khoso, caretaker federal Interior Minister, Malik Habib, Sindh Governor Dr Ishrat-ul-Ibad and Sindh Caretaker chief minister Retired Justice Zhid Kurban Alavi, to order for the immediate arrest of the killers of MQM candidate for Sindh Assembly, Fakhrul Islam and MQM Literature Committee’s members, Shiraz Azfar, and give them exemplary punishment.
