No lessons have been learnt from history in Pakistan: Altaf Hussain

No lessons have been learnt from history in Pakistan: Altaf Hussain
 Posted on: 6/11/2012
Rulers are adamantly following their oppressive polices to subjugate people and perpetuate their rule

Karachi: 11th June 2012: Founder and Leader of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) Mr Altaf Hussain has said that only the nations that have a sense of honour take lessons from the history. He regretted that no lesson was taken from the history in Pakistan, and the rulers were adamantly pursuing their policy to subjugate people for perpetuating their rule.

He said this while addressing a huge gathering of students in Jinnah Ground Azizabad on the occasion of the 34th Foundation Day of the All Pakistan Muttahida Students Organization (APMSO). Students from different parts of the country and hailing to different educational institutions had specially come to attend the “All Pakistan Students Conventions" organized by the APMSO.

Mr Hussain said that unjust policies were adopted in the past, and people were deprived of their rights. Their mandate was spurned and rejected. It was this attitude that caused the dismemberment of the East Pakistan.

Mr Hussain said that even though East Pakistan was lost yet no lessons were learnt from that great tragedy. He said that we were walking on the same path as we were still doing what we had been doing in the East Pakistan. Mandate of the people was not being accepted, and divisions were being created.

Mr Hussain said that vicious propaganda was done against the MQM in the past to stop its message from spreading. Powerful people in the country had claimed that the chapter of the MQM and Altaf Hussain had been closed. However, the caravan moved on and today the APMSO and the movement were celebrating their 34th Foundation Day.

Mr Hussain said that Karachi was made the centre of conspiracies against the MQM. The same game has been re-enacted against the MQM. Criminal elements involved in extortions and kidnapping for ransom are being harboured and funded in order to crush the MQM one way or another. Criminal elements were being given lethal weapons to create a sense of fear in the city by kidnapping people and cutting them into pieces.

Addressing the rulers and powerful institutions Mr Hussain warned that the MQM was a reality. He said that the reality must be accepted, and all conspiracies against the MQM must cease as the salvation of the country lay in this.

Mr Hussain said that the relations of Pakistan with the neighbouring countries were not good. The recent “love affair” was also eyewash as it was dictated by interests. The United States and the west had turned against Pakistan and looking upon Pakistan with suspicion.

Mr Hussain said that the rulers must take heed. He said that we were cutting the same branch on which we were sitting. He said that it was the path of utter destruction on which we were moving ahead.

Mr Hussain said that there was no part of the country that was not disturbed. Situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was fluid and Balochistan was on the verge of breaking away. The seeds of cessation taking roots in Balochistan called for bold steps. People were on streets in the Punjab.

Mr Hussain said that the country was heading towards destruction, but the rulers were adamantly following their oppressive policies of subduing the people by the brute force of the state.

Mr Hussain said that everyone should know that it was the 21st century, and it was impossible to hide facts because of rapid advancement in the field of science and technology.

Mr Hussain said that Karachi was the commercial centre of Pakistan but here shops, and business centres were being attacked with hand grenades. There should have been firm action against the criminals but the operation was stopped midway, and now the criminals were roaming freely.

Mr Hussain said that there are unemployment, financial hardships and economic downturn. People were being forced to commit suicide due to oppressive poverty. There was a shortage of gas and electricity in the country that had brought the wheel of industry to a grinding halt. He asked how the country could progress without adequate supply of energy.

Mr Hussain congratulated the office-bearers, workers of APMSO and students on the occasion of the 34th Foundation Day of the APMSO. He asked the students to study with devotion and acquire true knowledge. He asked them to fail in examination instead of adopted unfair means for passing.

Earlier shields and cash prized were distributed among students belonging to various boards and universities securing top positions in the examinations. Photo Gallery
