Police Is Involved In the Extra-judicial Killing of MQM Landhi Sector Worker Muhammad Sajid: Kanwer Naveed Jameel
 Posted on: 12/1/2014
Strongly condemning the extra-judicial killing of worker of MQM Landhi Sector Muhammad Sajid, Co-ordination Committee member Kanwer Naveed Jameel said that police was behind this brutal killing.
He said, “In civilized world if someone is killed people expect that police would arrest the culprits and bring them to justice but how can one get justice if police is itself involved in extra-judicial killing.”
Addressing a press conference at Khursheed Begum Secretariat in Azizabad, Mr Jameel said that over 24 MQM workers have been killed extra-judicially after subjecting them to inhuman torture in custody since the start of the Karachi.
Petitions had been filed in the Sindh High Court for the safe recovery of all the 24 MQM workers who were killed extra-judicially. It has been over a year now but the families of none of the victim have got justice.
He appealed to the judges of Supreme Court and High Court of Sindh to take notice of the extra-judicial killings and provide justice to the hapless family members of the victims.
He said that over 100 MQM workers have been killed during the last one year but killers of not a single victim have been arrested so far.
Mr Jameel said that Muhammad Sajid was on his way to Karachi airport for catching a flight to Dubai where he was living for a long period of time. A police mobile stopped his car and took him away in a double cabin vehicle that had no number plate.
His family started searching for him after getting the news but before their search could end, Sajid’s dead body was found in Malir River proving that he was hanged to death.
Drawing attention towards the attack on the MQM membership camp in Orangi Town, Mr Jameel said it was being made increasingly difficult for the MQM to pursue its political activities. An MQM worker Abdul Jabbar was killed in the attack while forty other workers, including MPAs, suffered serious injuries.
Mr Jameel said that the MQM had demanded operation in Karachi at a time when violence and bloodshed in the city was at its height and businessmen were shifting their businesses to other countries. But unfortunately innocent workers of the MQM were targeted in the name of the operation.
Mr Jameel said there are strong evidence about the arrests of MQM workers by government agencies but later on their arrests were denied and no one knows anything about them. Their parents, wives and children have been appealing to courts for the recovery of their loved-ones but no one seems to listen and care.
Mr Jameel appealed to heads of all concerned institutions and judges of the superior judiciary to take notice of the extra-judicial killing of Muhammad Sajid and all other workers of the MQM. He said that personnel of any government agency involved in the killings of MQM workers should be brought to book.
