Message on the occasion of birth anniversary of the Quaid-i-Azam
The Founder and Leader of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) Mr Altaf Hussain has said it is necessary to eradicate terrorism and extremism in order to transform Pakistan according to the golden principles of the Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. It has become inevitable all political and religious parties adopt a solid and effective line of action for this purpose. In his message on the occasion of the birth anniversary of the Quaid-i-Azam, Mr Hussain said that the Quaid-i-Azam was averse to all forms of religious extremism. He wanted to establish a system in Pakistan which was based upon religious harmony and social justice.
Mr Hussain said that the Quaid-i-Azam foresaw a Pakistan in which every citizen, including the minorities, had equal rights. In his speech to the Legislative Assembly on 11th August, the Quaid-i-Azam had made it abundantly clear that “you may belong to any religion or caste or creed that has nothing to do with the business of the state. You are free; you are free to go to your temples, you are free to go to your mosques or to any other place or worship in this State of Pakistan.”
Mr Hussain said that any person can form a clear idea of the type of Pakistan that the Quaid-i-Azam wanted from his famous speech. The MQM wants cleanse Pakistan of religious extremism and all forms of religious prejudices so that every citizen in Pakistan enjoyed equal rights.
