Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) founder & leader Altaf Hussain has said that the army wants to wipe out the Mohajir, it can kill a few people but it cannot wipe out millions of Mohajir. Mohajir identity is a fact which can’t not be eradicated by any one as long as world is exists. Mohajirs will not migrate, the ancestors of the Mohajir made a mistake by breaking India in the name of Islam but now they will not make the same mistake again by breaking Sindh.
We will now work together with the Sindhi brothers for the rights and freedom of Sindh. He expressed these views while addressing the party workers and the people yesterday. His speech was broadcast worldwide on his Facebook and YouTube channels. Mr. Altaf Hussain exposed the conspiracies by the army and its agencies to divide the Mohajirs and to clash between Mohajirs and Sindhis in the current situation. He called for unity and solidarity of the permanent residents of Sindh and joint struggle for the independence of Sindh.
Mr. Altaf Hussain said that the history of Sindh is thousands of years old, the ancient nations of Sindh do not exist today and the majority of the people who live in Sindh today have come from outside Sindh including Punjab, Balochistan, Pakhtunkhwa, Afghanistan, India and Arab. But they did not come in such a large number, while, after the establishment of Pakistan, millions of Muslims migrated from different parts of India and settled in Sindh.
If the number of migrants is small, they integrate into any area but the numbers of migrants are in the millions and settle in a single area, it takes them years to integrate into the local population. Once settled in the area, it takes years to integrate into the local population.
Immigrants also have their own language, culture, customs and way of life. It takes centuries to integrate into other cultures and civilizations. Mohajirs from India have their own language, culture, customs and traditions. Mr. Altaf Hussain said that the Mohajirs settled in Sindh were called by various insulting names. We chose the word “Mohajir” for our identity.
Now this is our identity which is a reality and cannot be denied. He said that Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto in collaboration with the army implemented quota system in Sindh on the basis of urban & rural. Foundation for segregation and division in Sindh was laid through this quota system and higher education and government jobs were denied to Mohajirs. Whether it is a Police or other government departments, the number of Mohajirs in it is negligible.
He said that our elders broke India in the name of Islam and made Pakistan but who got the benefit of making Pakistan? Jawaharlal Nehru (first Prime Minister of India) was ready to give 27% share in power to the Muslims of India but those who migrated to Pakistan are not given even 2% share. Hazrat Maulana Abul Kalam Azad explained to the Muslims of India that in India you will face only Hindus. Hindus may be your religious opponent but not as a patriot but In the Pakistan, you are going to, you will have to face four nations. Our elders did not pay attention to their words and this is the situation facing the Mohajirs in Pakistan today. He said that it is a fact that a lot of injustices ae being done to the Mohajirs, they are facing a lot of difficulties and state repression but I will ask the Mohajirs whether they will break Sindh and repeat the mistake of India.
I would advise the Mohajirs that we live in Sindh, our life and death is associated with Sindh, we became Sindhis on the basis of affiliation with Sindh and we have to fight for the independence of Sindh together with our Sindhi brothers, we need the independence of Sindh and not the province. I assure you that no power in the world can eradicate the identity of Mohajir until the Day of Judgment.
I am sure that in independent Sindh there will be equal rights for Mohajirs and Sindhis and Sindhi brothers will openly recognize the rights of Mohajirs and their rights and if Mohajirs are not given equal rights then Sindh will be abused. If the Sindhis and Mohajirs do not recognize each other whole heartedly, it will be to the detriment of the motherland of Sindh.
He also asked the Sindhi leaders and intellectuals to accept the reality of the Mohajirs with open heart and to make the efforts for unity and joint struggle of the Sindhis and the Mohajirs a success. He said that he would do his best for the independence of Sindh but if anyone would call bad name to Mohajirs, he would oppose and debate it with him. He asked the Mohajirs not to listen to the elements who want to make you a victim of conspiracies of the army and the establishment in the name of Mohajirs.
