Senior Deputy Convener of MQM Nadeem Nusrat has strongly condemned the biased action of paramilitary Rangers, snatching of KKF trucks containing hides of sacrificial animals, and arrests of several volunteers including women.
Mr Nusrat said, “Although the KKF had signed the code of conduct issued by the administration, the Rangers created hurdles for the KKF in the urban areas of Sindh, particularly in Karachi.”
“Trucks and Suzuki vans containing thousands of hides were snatched, and KKF volunteers were arrested.”
He said the Rangers’ action had made it clear that their primary agenda was to crush the MQM, and it's welfare wing and not the restoration of peace in Karachi.
The Rangers gave complete freedom to banned outfits to display their banners and posters for collection of hides, but they took down KKF banners. They harassed the volunteers and created hurdles in the way of KKF.
Mr Nusrat said that MQM is a peaceful political party. “MQM is showing patience and restraint despite all the excesses of the Rangers. But if the Rangers did not stop the gross abuse of state power, the patience of the people can give way. Rangers will itself to blame for the consequences of the public outburst.”
Mr Nusrat appealed Chief of Army Staff Gen Raheel Sharif to take serious notice of the situation and intervene for controlling the situation.
