KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) coordination committee on Monday appealed to the government to take immediate steps to save the life of its Karachi Tanzeemi Committee (KTC) member Ayaz Hassan who went allegedly missing today, Geo News reported.
In a statement issued here, the coordination committee claimed that MQM office bearer Ayaz Hassan along with his companion was going to pick up his son from Sanghar cadet college today (June 3) at 3 pm. He was intercepted at Sohrab Goth area of Karachi by what MQM statement alleges ‘security personnel in civvies’. They identified Ayaz Hassan before kidnapping him along with his friend, the statement added.
The MQM Coordination committee further said that the security men in civvies dropped the driver at a deserted place and took Mr Hassan and his friend along with them. The committee further said that the party's eight workers were still missing and kept in illegal custody, while no confirmation in this connection was being made by the security agencies.
Condemning what it called the ‘extrajudicial killing’ of Ajmal Baig, an office bearer at MQM’s Burns Road unit, the Coordination Committee expressed its serious concerns over the alleged kidnapping of Mr Hassan.
