 Posted on: 11/11/2012

Committees should be formed for safeguarding public life and defusing sectarian tensions in the city
News Report

The Co-ordination Committee of Muttahida Quami Movement has decried the slaying of innocent people belonging to the Sunni and Shia schools of thought in Karachi in the strongest possible words. It said that the relentless killings of the Sunni and the Shia people in the city gave to understand that the city was left totally at the mercy of terrorists and there was no one to safeguard the life and property of the people.

The Co-ordination Committee said that the savage terrorists involved in the killings of the Shia and Sunni and other people wanted to erode sectarian harmony. It said that the killings in Karachi were the part of a despicable and planned conspiracy to create instability in Pakistan.
The Co-ordination Committee appealed to the Sunni and Shia scholars not to give up patience and forbearance. It asked them to form committees in their respective areas for protecting people and defusing sectarian tension.
The Co-ordination Committee expressed grief and sorrow on the heartless killings of people in different parts of the city. It extended sympathies to the grieving families and prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured.
The Co-ordination Committee appealed to Governor Sindh Dr Ishratul Ebad and Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah to call a meeting of the heads of law-enforcing agencies and take definite steps for putting an end to the killing of innocent people in the city.
