MQM extended public referendum in deference to the month of Moharram

The Co-ordination Committee of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) has announced that the public referendum being held throughout the country on 14^th November has been extended in deference to the month of Moharram. The decision has been taken in a joint meeting of the Co-ordination Committee in London and Pakistan. Mr Altaf Hussain, the founder and leader of the MQM, has endorsed the decision of the Co-ordination Committee.
It was noted in the meeting of the Co-ordination Committee that the MQM leaders, elected representatives and other office-bearers would be busy in meeting with religious scholars in order to ensure sectarian harmony during the month of Moharram. Taking stock of all the aspects, the Co-ordination Committee unanimously decided to extend the referendum. The new date of the referendum will be announced at some later stage.
