Such restrictions are a conspiracy to weaken Pakistan and will create disaffection in the overseas Pakistanis
The Founder and Leader of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) Mr Altaf Hussain has expressed grave concerns on the attempts to place a bar on the people with dual nationality rendering them ineligible for holding government offices after implementation of a similar bar on the members of the parliament. He said that a conspiracy was being hatched to weaken Pakistan completely by imposing such restrictions that would only serve to reduce the number of people loyal to the country.
Mr Hussain expressed his surprise on the illogical arguments of certain political leaders and reminded them the English proverb, “As you sow, so shall you reap.” He said that the disparaging words used by certain political and religious leaders against overseas Pakistanis on the issue of the dual nationality had shattered their hearts to pieces.
Mr Hussain said that the overseas Pakistanis were greatly distressed on the issue of the dual nationality. “We have come to foreign countries in search of employment and for getting education. We have never forgotten our country.”
Mr Hussain said that he had learnt about the recommendations to debar people having dual nationality from holding top-level government posts. He said that the login behind imposing this ban in other government institutions after the parliament was inexplicable to him.
Mr Hussain said that the logic behind isolating overseas Pakistanis, who send billions of dollars to the country for supporting the economy, was simply beyond comprehension. He said that it was a clandestine conspiracy to weaken Pakistan.
Mr Hussain appealed to the people of Pakistan to wake up from their deep slumber saying, “How long will you remain oblivious of the real problems that would have far-reaching consequences for the country, and not care to see beyond your personal lives?”
Mr Hussain said that the people of Pakistan would have to come in the field for saving the country. He said that angels would not descend from heaven to improve the situation.
