Government and Opposition must give up their stubbornness and start dialogues: Altaf Hussain

Government and Opposition must give up their stubbornness and start dialogues: Altaf Hussain

A way should be found by mutual discussion so that the present system survives
The Founder and Leader of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) Mr Altaf Hussain has said that the government and the opposition must give up their stubbornness and egotism and start dialogues for finding a way out of the present crisis so that the system survives. He said that the good of everyone lay in allowing the system to continue.
In an SOS appeal to the government and the opposition Mr Hussain citied a verse of Sura Al-Hujurat saying, “And if two parties of the believers quarrel, make peace between them; but if one of them acts wrongfully towards the other, fight that which acts wrongfully until it returns to Allah’s command; then if it returns make peace between them with justice and act equitably; surely Allah loves those who act equitably.”
Mr Hussain said that he had been making appeals again and again for resolving all issues between the government and the opposition by dialogues without caring for hunger, thirst and rest.
“I am not an advocate of the government side but I appeal in the name of Allah and His Prophet (PBUH) to Dr Tahirul Qadri and Imran Khan for the sake of the country to give the government a chance and open dialogues with the government.”
Addressing Dr Qadri and Mr Khan he said that if they crossed into the red zone, it may lead to shelling and firing and there would a probability of violence and bloodshed. Pakistanis would lose their lives and it would serve nobody’s purpose.
Mr Hussain said it was not the democratic system that was faulty. Rather the people having feudal mind-set corrupt the system. “We should reform the democratic process so that the fruits of democracy could reach common Pakistanis.”
Mr Hussain asked Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif to show large-heartedness and personally go to Dr Qadri and Mr Khan for persuading them and seeking more time for resolving their demands.
Mr Hussain said that he could only make appeals, as he had never forced his opinions on others. “I say to the Opposition that their protest has been registered across the world. The present government has made mistakes and it must make amends for those mistakes but along with this Dr Qadri and Mr Khan must also show flexibility in their stance and add some time in their ultimatums.”
Mr Hussain said that he was aware of the problems being faced by the participants of the sit-ins. Thousands of people are without food and sleep. I appeal for the sake of the country to find a peaceful way of reforming the present democratic system. A way should be found that the system survives and the rulers exit. If the system collapses everyone will have to face the consequences and Pakistan will suffer.”
