Nations that do not value their freedom become extinct
Message on the occasion of 67th Independence Day
The Founder and Leader of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) Mr Altaf Hussain has felicitated the nation on the 67th Independence Day. In his message Mr Hussain said that freedom is one of the Greatest Blessings of Almighty Allah and nations that do not value this Blessing become extinct and a warning for the coming generations.
Mr Hussain said that Pakistan appeared as an independent nation on the map of the world as a result of a historic struggle and sacrifices of millions of people. It was dismembered in 1971 as a result of arrogance and prolonged injustices committed by rulers in the past. Forces inimical to the country are actively busy in hatching conspiracy against the security of the remaining Pakistan. Hence it is necessary for every patriotic Pakistani to care for the invaluable blessing of freedom by playing an active role for the national security, existence and prosperity.
Mr Hussain appealed to the people of Pakistan to resolve that they would work for ending religious extremism, terrorism, unemployment, obsolete feudal system, and corrupt dynastic political culture from the country. People of Pakistan should make every effort for making Pakistan a liberal, democratic, enlightened and progressive welfare state according to the ideals of the Quaid-i-Azam and other founding fathers of the country.
Mr Hussain said that the only way to make Pakistan a powerful nation is to promote religious tolerance, sectarian harmony and democratic norms - a Pakistan where non-Muslim Pakistanis also enjoyed equal rights and freedom to practice their religious beliefs like other citizens.
