MQM Coordination Committee strongly condemned brutally manhandling of Punjab police to workers of Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) in twin cities and other parts of the province.
In a statement, the Coordination Committee said government got panic after hearing about the return of PAT Chief Allama Tahirul Qadri. The police maltreatment with PAT activists in Khanna Bridge, I-Teen and Koral Chowk, would definitely damage democracy and could lead another possible adventure of anti-democratic elements.
It said PAT workers had all rights to welcome their leader and practice political norms. It said government should stop using state machinery to suppress its opponents and victimizing them for its political achievements.
The Coordination Committee also expressed deep condolence for the injuries, including innocent children, women and elders. It prayed Almighty Allah to bless them all and confer their early recovery and complete health.
