Rabita Committee expresses condemnation of the brutal murder of a pregnant woman outside the Lahore High Court

Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s Rabita Committee has expressed condemnation of the brutal murder of a 25 year old pregnant woman Farzana Parveen. She was stoned to death by her father and brothers in the name of honour outside the Lahore High Court.
The Rabita Committee deplored that hundreds of women are brutally murdered in the name of honour by family members or killed by the orders of Jirgas. They lamented law made for the prevention of such heinous crimes are not enforced on the perpetrators of honour killings.
“According to the latest report of Human Rights Commission of Pakistan more than 869 women were murdered in Pakistan last year because they choose their own life partners. The brutal murder of Farzana Parveen has shocked human rights organizations across the globe and people especially woman. Her murder has given a bad name to Pakistan, “ Rabita Committee said in a joint statement.
Rabita Committee has made an appeal to people belonging to electronic and print media to raise public awareness of crimes against women.
Rabita Committee has demanded that prime minister, chief minister of Punjab, law minister of Punjab and human rights organizations to take notice of the tragic incident and arrest and prosecute people responsible for the murder and provide protection to women and other segments of the society.
