The prime minister and the cabinet should address their complaints.
The founder and leader of MQM Mr. Altaf Hussain has strongly condemned the growing incidents of desecration of the holy book of Sikhs. He has demanded an emergency meeting on this issue from the prime minister and the cabinet to address their complaints. He added that people responsible for desecration of the holy book of Sikhs should be punished.
Mr. Hussain expressed these views while talking to the minority wing of MQM, which comprises people from Sikh, Christians, Hindu and other minority groups.
“I know that incidents of desecration has injured your feelings. I share your pain and distress. People who desecrate holy books, places of worships and holy personalities should be punished irrespective of faiths. They should be given same punishments which are prescribed for non-Muslims who commit sacrilegious attacks, “ Mr. Hussain said.
“MQM considers members of religious minorities equal citizens of Pakistan and acknowledges their rights. MQM considers that it is the responsibility of the government to protect their property, life and places of worships. The constitution of Pakistan gives religious freedom to people of other faiths. The constitution also tells us to respect their books like Islamic scriptures. So the prime minister should convene a cabinet meeting and order a stern action against people responsible for the desecration of the holy books, “ Mr. Hussain said.
He asked members of the minority wing that they should convey his message to their community members that he shared their pain and distress.
