MQM stages countrywide demonstration on NICOP issue
Deputy Convener MQM Coordination Committee Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui at a demonstration said no one could take away MQM Chief Mr Altaf Hussain’s right to be Pakistani and it is evident that Mr Hussain does not need any (documental) evidence to be called a Pakistani.
Dr Siddiqui expressed his deep concerns over Mr Hussain’s NIC issue while addressing to the participants of a demonstration outside NADRA office near Karasaz Road and said after taking his NADRA application form, photograph and fingerprints and even foreign office’s consent of receiving application is enough evidence for Mr Hussain to claim his NICOP card. He denied that the issue was not just an official mistake but pointing to a conspiracy against 98% people of country.
Meanwhile, the demonstrating participants held banners and placards against interior ministry and NADRA authorities. The participants also raised slogans in favour of MQM Chief Mr Altaf Hussain and demanded the government to issue him NICOP card and other official documents immediately.
Mr Siddiqui indicated that Pakistan had been besieged by multifunctional mafias and they did not want Mr Hussain to come to his motherland. He demanded the authorities to immediately issue his NICOP card and other documents, he applied for. He said, although, MQM Chief is not an ordinary countryman but he lives his life with simplicity because he represents 98% of his countrymen.
The MQM Deputy Convener said their party supporters and workers are demonstrating for the rights of their beloved leader. He said the government treated NADRA as its subordinate institution. He warned the authorities that people who could liberate India-subcontinent, if needed, could snatch their rights from the oppressors of the country.
He said the tyrannical mentalities of the country felt threatened hearing about Mr Hussain’s return and they kept knitting conspiracies against him. He demanded the authorities to answer Karachiites and countrymen that why Mr Hussain is not being issued his NICOP.
Talking to the participants, member of Central Coordination Committee Haider Abbas Rizvi said that the people on social media, journalists and columnists kept asking questions about non-issuance of Mr Hussain’s NICOP. He said no one knew our names 30 to 35 years ago, and the man who gave us identity, now is denied to be issued his national identity card.
He said no one would like to accept us as Pakistani and the denial of Mr Hussain’s NICOP is a conspiracy against the entire nation. He demanded the authorities to provide a genuine reason for not issuing his card because nearly forty days had already been passed.
Member of MQM Coordination Committee Kanwar Naveed Jamil said every citizen of Pakistan had right to possess national identity card and other travelling documents. He said non-issuance of NICOP to Mr Hussain is simply an insult to the unanimous leader of 98% of the country.
Mr Jamil also demanded to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan to immediately issue Mr Hussain’s NICOP card prior to any undesirable consequences and warned that the government would be equally accomplice for it.
Member of MQM Coordination Committee Ashfaq Mangi said if the NICOP card is not issued to Mr Hussain than MQM supporters and workers would protest long. He also demanded Prime Minister Nawz Sharif and Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan to immediately issue Mr Hussain’s NICOP.
Member of MQM Coordination Committee Dr Sagheer Ahmed also demanded Prime Minister Nawz Sharif and Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan to immediately issue Mr Hussain’s NICOP card because he lives in people’s hearts. He also said government had created an issue from a non-issue and playing with the emotions of the people.
He questioned that why the acquisition of national identity cards made so complex and people became anxious about non-issuance of NICOP card to Mr Hussain. He condemned the interior ministry official for intriguing against people’s beloved leader.
