MQM COORDINATION COMMITTEE DEMANDS GOVERNMENT TO ISSUE ORDINANCE TO BAN THE COVERAGE OF TALIBAN ON PRINT AND ELECTRONIC MEDIA WITH IMMEDIATE EFFECT
 Posted on: 2/19/2014
The MQM Central Coordination Committee has demanded of the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Federal Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, Federal Information Minister Parvez Rasheed and Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Shareef to take extreme and crucial steps for the survival and integrity of the country to deal with the unending terrorism of Taliban. The Central Coordination Committee recommended that one of the extreme steps shall be the notification by the Government in the form of an Ordinance with immediate effect to restrict the print and electronic media and impose a ban on the publication or broadcast of any form of statement from the Taliban. The Coordination Committee also appealed to the Government to provide security and protection to all the newspaper and electronic media offices so that the media persons can continue to perform their professional journalistic duties without any pressure or threat. It must be noted that Taliban has targeted bomb blast on various media houses and murdered senior journalists. The Coordination Committee also appealed to the owners and senior editors of all print and electronic media, in the name of national duty and fervour, to cooperate with the Government on the imposition of ban on Taliban coverage.
