MQM slams PA’s Dy. Speaker, treasury MPA & urge them to apologize on the floor of the House

Strongly condemning Sindh Assembly’s deputy Speaker Shehla Raza’s act of switching off mike of minority’s Haq Parast MPA Dewan Chand Chawla and use of foul language by treasury MPA Jam Mehtab Ali against Haq Parast woman MPA, Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s Coordination Committee has asked both the Dy. Speaker and the treasury MPA to apologize on the floor of the House.
In a statement issued on Monday, the Coordination Committee said that MQM being a democratic party held other parties enjoying people’s mandate and their representatives in high esteem and expected the same from others.
The Committee said that the treasury MPA Jam Mehtab Ali by using foul language against Haq Parast MPA Ms Sameeta Afzal during Monday’s proceedings of the House amounted to humiliation of MQM’s mandate.
It said that on the one hand, foul language was being used against the MQM’s mandate, particularly against its women legislators and, on the other, the Assembly’s deputy Speaker Shehla Raza not only punished minority’s Haq Parast MPA Dewan Chand Chawla for raising the issues of minorities by getting his mike switched off but also passed sarcastic remarks against the MPA which, it added, reflected the deputy Speaker’s prejudiced behaviour.
The Coordination Committee said that Ms Shehla Raza and MPA Jam Mehtab Ali’s acts of turning Sindh Assembly an Autaq of Waderas was extremely damaging and it must be widely condemned.
Though the coveted offices of speaker and deputy speakers are supposed to be impartial and it was mandatory upon them to take along all members of house and treat them equally, Shehla Raza’s attitude had always remained prejudice and impartial, the Committee deplored.
The MQM Coordination Committee urged both the deputy Speaker Shehla Raza and the MPA Jam Mehtab Ali to immediately apologize on the floor of the House.
