MQM workers and Muhajir supporters are primary targets of state repression.I appeal to rulers to learn from their past mistakes and stop state repression against loyal Muhajirs
The Founder and Leader of MQM Mr Altaf Hussain has said that the targeted operation which has been launched in Karachi for the elimination of criminal elements operation in the city has been diverted to MQM like the operation of June 19, 1992 launched by General Asif which was launched to eliminate dacoits, patheridars and criminals who were carrying kidnapping for ransom.
“MQM workers and Muhajir supporters are primary targets of state repression, “ Mr. Hussain expressed these views while talking to members of Rabita Committee at Nine Zero, Azizabad.
“The Supreme Court of Pakistan has said that every party maintains militant wings in the city, but law enforcement agencies are targeting MQM workers and Muhajir supporters and subjected them to inhume torture and abuses. Rangers and police did pick up workers of Pakistan’s People Party and Awami National Party. They were not tortured in detention. None of them have become victims of enforced disappearances and killed extra judicially. Workers of these parties have not been sent to jail. It is a fact that MQM’s workers are being targeted and Muhajir people are experiencing repression while criminals involved in crimes and murders are roaming about freely. No action has been taken against them, “ Mr. Hussain deplored.
“Reports are being published in the International media that the Taliban terrorists have taken control of one third areas of Karachi. Reports say that they are involved in kidnapping for ransom, extortion, land grabbing and robberies in the city. They send all these looted money to Taliban leadership in tribal areas. It is deplorable police and rangers cannot enter into Taliban controlled areas of Karachi. Whenever police and rangers personnel try enter into Lyrai to take action against gangsters they were showed with rockets and fired upon with anti-aircraft guns and sophisticated weapons. They have killed policemen in cold blood and slaughtered rangers personal after kidnapping them. In MQM dominated areas police and law enforcement agencies have never being attacked. No law enforcement agency personnel have been slaughtered in these areas. Despite this Muhajir neighborhoods are being raided and house to house searches are being conducted in their areas. They have conducted illegal raids in our areas and detained hundreds of Muhajir elders and young men. No a single stone was thrown at them in our areas. The question is: Did law enforcement agencies arrest people who fired rockets at them and slaughtered their personnel, “ Mr. Hussain said.
“Now they have disturbed Nine Zero’s phone lines to sever MQM’s contact with its workers and supporters, which is highly condemnable. I appeal to rulers to learn from their past mistakes and stop state repression against loyal Muhajirs, “ Mr. Hussain said.
