MQM founder leader Mr Altaf Hussain once again presented Karachi’s case of civil rights
#Karachi is the highest revenue-generating city, yet it has repeatedly been deprived of its due rights and continues to suffer injustices. After the inception of #Pakistan, Karachi served as the federal capital, but following a conspiracy that sidelined the founder of Pakistan, Quaid-e Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, and after the assassination of his right-hand, Liaquat Ali Khan, a pro-British general, Ayub Khan, imposed martial law on the country. During his rule, in 1959, the federal capital was shifted from Karachi to Islamabad. From that period onward, the process of injustices and discriminations against the Muhajir community in Pakistan started. Those Muhajirs who had built the country’s administrative structure were gradually removed from the civil services. This continued during General Yahya Khan’s era, and the remaining injustices were completed by Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, the founder of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP). In truth, the #PPP is a party hostile to Karachi; its history is full of enmity toward Karachi and Hyderabad. The PPP has been in power in Sindh for the past fifty years without meaningful opposition, and it has governed Sindh continuously since 2008. Over the last 17 years, the PPP’s landed elite have turned Sindh into a den of plunder and corruption, leaving Karachi drowned in misery. Karachi and Hyderabad produce the most revenue, yet not a single percent of that revenue is spent on their development, all the money is eaten up by the Zardari mafia of the PPP. The PPP’s waderas have looted the provincial exchequer so brazenly that even the bandits of the countryside have been outdone. During MQM’s tenure, bridges, flyovers, roads, and parks were constructed and the city’s face was transformed. But in the last 17 years, the PPP has utterly destroyed Karachi. This is the Karachi-hostile policy of the PPP’s wadera mafia. The PPP’s racist government and its wadera mafia are not only persecuting Muhajirs; through their enmity toward Karachi they are destroying the entire city. Therefore, I appeal to all citizens of Karachi whether Muhajir, Punjabi, Pashtun, Baloch, poor Sindhi, or belonging to any other community; whether living in New Karachi, Liaquatabad, Landhi, Korangi, or in Defence, Clifton, or other societies, to unite against the PPP’s wadera mafia, to struggle for the city’s rights, and to raise their voices for the rights of their city. As long as the PPP mafia rules in Karachi, the city will get nothing; these waderas will continue to loot the city and the city will keep deteriorating. I appeal to the Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal General Syed Asim Munir, to rid Karachi and Sindh of the PPP’s looting mafia, to restore Karachi and urban Sindh to their rights. I urge him to come to Karachi, visit the neighbourhoods, and ask the people directly what sufferings and injustices the PPP’s looter-and-showman government is committing against Karachi. I also appeal to Field Marshal General Syed Asim Munir to dismantle the nationwide alliance of looting between Nawaz and Zardari, to free the country from these plunderers, to release Imran Khan and his associates, to lift the unlawful and unconstitutional restrictions on MQM, to release MQM’s innocent workers, to recover the missing activists, to stop operations in Balochistan and release Mah Rang Baloch and his associates, to halt drone strikes in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, to regard everyone as Pakistani, and to win people’s hearts rather than resorting to the use of guns.
