OPPRESSED PEOPLE OF PAKISTAN - SLAVES OF ELITE
If we take a serious look at the governance in Pakistan, we can't help but wonder about the nature of the system and its rulers. Here are some questions that cross one's mind: 1. What kind of governance system is present in Pakistan? 2. Are the people of Pakistan truly free or are they oppressed? 3. Does the constitution hold any significance? 4. Does the rule of law truly apply? 5. Who are the actual rulers of Pakistan? Answer No.1: Looking back at Pakistan's 75-year history, it is apparent that there is no established system of governance in place. Either military dictators ruled the country through martial law, or nameless republican governments were created in the shadows of the military establishment. Every government has been made up of feudal lords, big land owners, capitalists or large-scale tribal chiefs- all backed by the military establishment. There had emerged a hope for people's rule in real in the country when Awami League of Sheikh Mujeeb swept the 1970 elections with majority but he wasn't allowed to firm his legitimised civilian government. The military establishment didn't accept his victory and subsequent to that plain authoritarian denial, the country was divided into #Pakistan and #Bangladesh. Answer No.2: The people of Pakistan have never been truly free. They have always been subservient to the military or to republican governments under the control of the military establishment. They are oppressed by the 2 percent elite and feudal and big land owning segments of Pakistan's population. Answer No.3: While the constitution exists in Pakistan, it seems to apply only to the 98 percent poor and middle class. The 2 percent elite including military generals, big land owners, capitalists and powerful tribal chiefs act beyond the constitution's reach. Senior officers who have violated the constitution have never been punished since Pakistan's creation. Neither have any big land owners, capitalists or tribal chiefs. However, those who dared to stand face to face with the military establishment were executed like Bhutto, Nawab Akbar Bugti, Altaf Hussain and . Their parties were marginalised and several splinter groups were created to weaken their public mandate and political strength. In #Baluchistan , the military had executed powerful tribal chiefs but those who accepted military's tyranny and being sheer puppets lived. Answer No.4: The rule of law only applies to the 98 percent poor and middle class in Pakistan, while the 2 percent elite ignores it constantly. Answer No.5: This is a bitter reality that Pakistan's actual rulers are military establishment generals. The so-called democratic governments are only puppets of the military establishment. Pakistan's people are slaves of the 2 percent combined military and big land owners. Parties like MQM and have faced military operations because they represent the poor and middle class. The is the only party in the country which is under lethal military crackdowns without a break. What's the solution to this hostile and suffocating atmosphere in the country? In my opinion, it is imperative that the oppressed people first get united in order to save the country. They must launch a strong and well-organised campaign against those in power. They need to endure the challenges and hardships of imprisonment and persecution until they achieve their freedom, even if it means sacrificing their lives. Thank you, ALTAF HUSSAIN July 12, 2023.
