Muttahida Qaumi Movement chief Altaf Hussain on Saturday felicitated Hindu community living in Pakistan and as elsewhere in the world on their auspicious occasion of Diwali.
In a congratulatory message issued on the occasion of Diwali, Mr Hussain said that religion harmony across the globe, including Pakistan, could only be promoted by respecting religious faith and festivals of each other’s religions.
He said that that Diwali was a festival of happiness and such festivals of any religion gave the lesson of humanity and welfare and we could ensure respect of each other’s religion by following the true spirits of such joyous festivals.
A society where there is no respect for other religions become victim of social imbalances sliding towards an end, Mr Hussain said, adding that it was because of this reason that the MQM not always held the followers of all religions in high esteem but also shared with them joy and grief.
In this regard, he pointed out that the MQM with a view to sharing happiness with the followers of all religions had been extending help and cooperation to the deserving people on their religious festivals whether it be Holy Ramazan, Eid-ul-Fitr, Eid-ul-Azha, Diwali, Holi, Christmas and festivals of other religions.
Mr Hussain appealed to Hindu community’s youths, elders, women and children to offer special prayers on their auspicious occasion of Diwali for the country’s progress and prosperity, restoration of peace, an end to terrorism and conspiracies being hatched against the MQM as well as for the success of MQM’s righteous struggle.
