Para military Rangers, Police and law enforcement agencies sealed areas in Karachi to stop MQM workers and Mohajir nation to offer fateha for martyrs

Para military Rangers, Police and other law enforcement agencies sealed Azizabad and other areas in Karachi to stop MQM workers and Mohajir nation to offer fatiha and pay tribute to Mohajir martyrs.

MQM observes Day of Martyrs on 9th December every year to pay tribute to martyrs. A monument of martyrs situated in Azizabad area of Karachi near the MQM head office and residence of MQM founder leader Altaf Hussain. Since 22nd August 2016, Army, Para military Rangers and law enforcement agencies intensified state operation against MQM and Mohajir nation. State forces did not allow MQM workers and Mohajirs to observe martyrs day.

MQM announced day of martyrs today but Para military Rangers, Police and law enforcement agencies cordoned of the area of Azizabad with heavy contingent, all roads and streets were sealed. More over security forces also sealed the martyrs’ graveyard of Yasinabad, Azizabad. Security forces did not allow public to go to the monument of martyrs and graveyard to offered fatiha for their martyrs.

MQM’s convener Tariq Jawaid strongly condemns the state actions for not allowing observing Martyrs Day. He said in a statement that all political parties have freedom for political activities but MQM workers and Mohajir are not being allowed to offer fathia for their martyrs. He appealed to the UN and human rights organisation to take notice of these human rights violations in Karachi.
