London: 28th June 2018: Recently, a special delegation of MQM, led by international human-rights lawyer A. Ghaffar raised the issues and problems of Mohair nation at a meeting that was held at the European Parliament in Brussels with the European United Left, an alliance of leftist parties at the European Parliament. Ms. Eleonora Forenza, member of the European Parliament, from the European United Left is an energetic woman who is engaged with the issues of women’s rights, human-rights, and poverty.

MEP Forenza discussed and looked into various problems that Mohajirs have been facing – especially the recent suppression of MQM and its leader Altaf Hussain… MQM, London’s delegate highlighted a strategic point in regard to the G.S.P status of Pakistan, which is Generalized Scheme of Preference (GSP) that is given to Pakistan by European Union/European Commission. It was pointed out that due to the human-rights violations, Pakistan is not eligible to have this preferred G.S.P status. MEP Forenza said she would present this aspect to Federica Mogherini, Vice President of the European Commission/High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy.

In regard to the extra-judicial killings, rampant in Pakistan by the military establishment, the abduction and killing of Professor Hasan Zafar Arif also came up into discussion among other principal topics.

When MQM’s Manifesto of Empowering People was presented that includes women, children and non-Muslims – MEP Forenza expressed her enthusiasm for developing a solidarity with the women of Pakistan, India and Bangladesh. She said that efforts should be made in solidarity towards common goals.
